D.I.Y. Interactive painting techniques + Electronics.

WORKSHOP TEI13. Fab Lab Barcelona

Abstract painting and composition

15 min. – Through a series of abstract paintings by Wassily Kandinsky, participants will examine his exploration of color; studies developed by combining formal elements, such as line, shape, and form with color theory in order to evoke emotions. The aim will be to establish a basic understanding of color theory and composition.

Techniques and Methodologies
15 min. – After this presentation, they will be introduced to a variety of techniques and examples of paintings that incorporate reactive paints with traditional art materials, such as watercolor, pencils, and acrylics. Participants will be provided with a kit containing materials to be used during the workshop. Techniques covered will include watercolor painting salt and splatter painting, with a view to creating abstract shapes and material textures.

Interactive Painting Workshop
45 min. – Inspired by the abstract paintings and compositions of Wassily Kandinsky, participants will create their own painting. They will be encouraged to mix reactive paints with traditional art techniques to explore interactive concepts and discover differents colors, compositions, shapes, and abstract forms. During this workshop session, participants will learn new methodologies while also experimenting with different hands-on painting techniques and processes.

▽ WORKSHOP

D.I.Y. Interactive painting techniques + electronics will allow participants with non-technical-education to learn basic skills and electronics concepts that include combining reactive paints with traditional art techniques. Participants will learn color theory by mixing reactive paints with traditional art techniques, such as watercolor or acrylic painting, as a bridge to introduce them to basic electronics concepts in order to make a basic animation on their painting or illustration. The goal of the studio is to familiarize participants with new available materials, introduce them to simple circuitry concepts and to learn new practices of creating artwork with electronics. This studio workshop has been designed by an art teacher to promote experimental, interdisciplinary learning of art techniques. The aim is to encourage participants to learn values and new art practices so as they can explore new forms of expression in interactive art. The workshop will focus on cultivating each participant’s ability to re-imagine new practices and to rethink emerging hands-on techniques in teaching art through new methods that could eventually involve the use of new technologies.
